The balance inquiry charges of Mobilink has been increased by 50% from April 17, 2012. It is published in various newspaper today that the balance inquiry services will be charged at 15 paisas plus Tax. The Balance inquiry charges were 10 paisas plus tax before this.

The imposing of new charges from cellular service operators is not new. All Companies are in constant habit of imposing additional charges or increasing current charges of value added services like calling help line, maintenance charges and so on.

It looks that other operators will follow Mobilink and will also increase balance inquiry charges from 12 paisas to 18 paisas per inquiry.

Role of PTA in Cutting Additional Charges:

Pakistan Telecommunication Authority is not doing much in this regard.The Chairman Pakistan Telecommunication Authority Muhammad Yasin told officially to Senate Standing Committee that the Authority should ask the operators to fix the service charges. Chairman said the setting fix price is impossible because cost is going high due to power tariff.

The Senate standing Committee members had proposed PTA to fix a ceiling on account of service charges that cellular operators regularly impose on mobile phone customers. It looks that authority is siding the telecom companies leaving behind its motto of protecting consumers.

Now the last hope for consumers is competition commission after the decision of PTA of not regulating service charges.

DUBAI: Pakistan defeated England in all three matches to make a clean sweep of the three-Test series against England here at the Dubai International Cricket Stadium on Monday.

Pakistan, who were bowled out for 99 in their first innings, became the first team to win a Test after being dismissed for under 100 since England, dismissed for 76 in the first innings, beat South Africa by 53 runs at Leeds in 1907.

For Pakistan it was a fifth series whitewash, their last coming in a 3-0 triumph over Bangladesh in 2003.

Chasing a daunting target of 324, England were dismissed for 252 runs in the last session of the pen-ultimate day of the third and final Test match at Dubai.

Thus England lost the match by 71 runs after being defeated in the first Test at the same ground by ten wickets and the second Test by 72 runs at Abu Dhabi as their batting flopped against Pakistani spin duo of Saeed Ajmal and Abdul Rehman.

For Pakistan, paceman Umar Gul and off-break bowler Saeed Ajmal captured four wickets each for 61 and 67, respectively while left-arm spinner Abdul Rehman claimed two wickets.

Saeed Ajmal finished the series with 24 wickets to win the Plaer-of-the-series while young Azhar Ali was adjudged the Man-of-the-Match for his 157 in the second innings.
